Genentech has always been about breakthroughs—pioneering science into life-changing solutions. After Roche’s acquisition of Genentech, a challenge emerged: how could Genentech’s Research & Early Development (gRED) team collaborate with the larger entity to more effectively to drive innovation? Their publications database, a critical tool for sharing knowledge, was falling short. Scientists struggled with limited search functionality and rigid submission workflows that didn’t reflect the realities of global teamwork.

Genentech had a clear goal: to create a more dynamic and intuitive publications portal. Together with ISPOT Interactive, we led a nine-month journey to reimagine the platform from the ground up. The result was a tool designed not just to solve problems but to empower researchers to think bigger, move faster, and collaborate freely.

Our efforts centered on delivering key features to enhance functionality and user experience. Smart design was prioritized, with dashboards and data visualizations crafted to make insights actionable. Flexibility was ensured through multi-level filtering options designed to meet the specific needs of scientists. Ease of use was a core focus, with a submission process tailored to adapt seamlessly to the pace and rhythm of global teams.

Scientists can now securely submit articles, reviews, posters, and more—without barriers. The platform reflects Genentech’s value of collaboration. Across disciplines and locations, teams are empowered to focus on what matters most: solving complex problems and driving innovation.
